Our story began on a Christmas Eve. Steve had just finished seeing the last patient in the office when he received a frantic call from the nurse in the hospital. The doctor who was to cover the ER for the next FOUR days had just arrived. His first question was "Where's the cafeteria?" His next question was "Who is going to be reading my ECGs and X-rays?" He was a psychiatrist who had not seen a medical patient in twenty years. But he needed the money and this was just a small, rural hospital. What harm could he do?

Steve was the Medical Director of the ER. So, he called the staffing company to find a solution. He was informed that there were no other options. Our Critical Access Hospital was a small account and bigger hospitals paid more. Lump it of leave it.

Steve called his wife and informed her he would not be home for Christmas. Then he knocked on the door to the ER Doctor's Room and informed the erstwhile occupant that his services would no longer be required. He didn't have the required qualifications.

Our community received the quality of care it deserved that holiday. And Steve's marriage survived. But the frustration of that event planted a seed. It took a decade to germinate, but in 2003 CORE Physician Resources signed its first contract.

We represent a synthesis of the community-mindedness of rural Primary Care and the expertise of residency trained Emergency Medicine physicians. For more than a decade we have been working with rural hospitals to recruit and retain qualified physicians for their ERs. We enjoy what we do. We are proud of what we have done. We look forward to proving what we can do for you..
